About Us
Yourfolio at it’s core exists due to NSCC IT Programming’s final semester Capstone project. With our Capstone project and wanted not only a passing grade, but also to create something that we could use and to provide a solution to a problem. That problem was Portfolios. For context, a key factor that sets NSCC apart from other institutions is that it is a Portfolio driven school and all graduating students are required to have a Portfolio, for IT students preferably an E-Portfolio.
Portfolios themselves are not the issue, they provide an excellent way for students to stand out and show off their skills to potential employers and offer more creative freedom in displaying what they've learned during their time at NSCC. The problem comes in a few different ways, first, web hosting isn’t free. Purchasing a domain and hooking it up to your website also isn’t free, and lastly, the process of getting it live and public can vary in difficulty depending on the approach taken.
This is where Yourfolio comes in. It's a free, easy to use service for students that enables them to host their portfolios with a custom URL of their choosing. It still requires students to create their portfolio using their own HTML/CSS/JS to reflect their knowledge and skills but Yourfolio provides a platform that will host that code for them on their own Nginx webserver.

Matthew Covey
Project Lead & Lead Developer
Matthew has spent the past 2 years pushing himself to get the most out of his time at NSCC by taking on the IT Job Fair Team, PALS Tutoring, What’s Your Challenge, and now being the Lead behind Yourfolio.ca. With some exposure to ASP.NET over his 18 week co-op during the summer of 2022 he fell in love with C# and all things .NET which may have played a role in why Yourfolio ended up being built in ASP.NET. After presenting the idea for Yourfolio to his peers Matthew was fortunate enough to assemble a dream team of IT Programming students which have all been monumental in bringing this project to life. Outside of work Matthew can be found on the golf course or playing some video games.
Abdulrahman Alkasem
Developer
Abdulrahman is an IT Programming student at NSCC. He loves learning, especially when it comes to science and math. Abdulrahman believes in hands-on learning, which is why he enjoys programming and playing video games. Outside of school, Abdulrahman values spending time with my loved ones. His goal is to build a successful career in the IT industry while continuing to grow as a person.
Ryan George
UX Lead & Developer
Ryan's always been fascinated by technology and its ability to make a positive impact on people's lives. As a quick learner, Ryan's always seeking to expand my knowledge and skills. He is determined to excel in my studies and gain hands-on experience through internships and projects. Ryan believes that hard work and dedication are key to achieving success in any field, and I'm willing to put in the effort to reach my goals. In his free time, Ryan enjoy playing video games and hockey, as well as hiking and exploring the outdoors. Ryan finds that being in nature helps me recharge and find inspiration.
Pat McCormick
Developer
Pat brings a background in large scale construction projects and is no stranger to teamwork or deadlines. He's a strong generalist who thrives on problem-solving and finding innovative solutions. Pat's diverse skillset includes expertise in electronics repair and a love for Java. His extensive knowledge and unique perspective make him a valuable contributor.
Barrot MacIntyre
Team Facilitator & Developer
Barrott is a Junior Software Developer who studied at NSCC Institute of Technology. Barrott brings a wide range of experience to the team with an education background in engineering and technology and years of experience in the hospitality industry as a professional brewer and sommelier. Crossing over his previous life experiences into the digital world, Barrott is an asset to the Yourfolio team.
Jack MacKinnon
Technical Analyst & Developer
Jack has been programming since he was 14 years old, but the past 2 years he has been refining his skills as a programmer. With a creative mind and a passion for programming, Jack has been able to take on exciting projects and explore different technologies. He completed a 5-week work term as a technical analyst, where he was able to gain hands-on experience in a real-world setting that was an asset to the team and the project. Jack has a broad range of programming skills, including proficiency in C++, C, and full-stack frameworks like Laravel, which is similar to ASP.NET and has been a very nice skill to have for this project.

As a hard-working and dependable individual, Zack is dedicated to delivering high-quality work while maintaining excellent communication and collaboration with his team. With a background in event and the music industry, Zack brings a unique perspective to creative-thinking and problem solving that make him an asset to YourFolio.
